Client of the Month: Hey! Holla

What ingredients go into the launch of a successful, design-led consumer products business? Well, one truly inspirational recipe calls for a large portion of drive and ambition, two helpings of creativity, a sprinkling of motivational slogans and a potful of neon ink! Put these ingredients together and you have the beginnings of Hey! Holla, a thriving fitness business that we’re delighted to feature as our Client of the Month for January.

Getting started

Hey Holla Tote BagHey! Holla’s co-founders, Laura Reed and Alex Lee, met at university and until recently lived less than half a mile apart, in East London. With a shared passion for design-led products, a love of puns and a desire to find a new outlet for their creativity, the pair developed a range of fun, playful, pun-inspired tote bags for fitness fans and gym bunnies.

Alex and Laura initially tested the market’s appetite for their ‘fitspirational’ products at a number of markets in and around London, before the notoriously picky Notonthehighstreet.com came a-calling and invited the pair to set up shop on its consumer marketplace.

The company has grown in leaps and bounds since then, and is fast becoming a go-to source of ‘fitspiration’ for Britain’s gym-going, yoga-loving public.

About the author

Originally graduating with a degree in geography from Edinburgh University, Keir claims that he was then tricked into becoming an accountant by one of the UK's top 5 accountancy practices.The deception extended to the usual training in audit and associated activities.

Keir subsequently worked in a number of advisory roles with clients including in the energy trading, pharmaceuticals and financial services sectors.

He loves working at Accounts & Legal because of the variety of work and clients, the excellent team ethos and morale, the importance placed on genuinely helping and being useful for clients and because he believes what he does matters to clients and helps the firm.

Keir's primary role is to ensure that new clients with complex businesses or needs are on-boarded in the best way and he is a "trouble shooter" both for clients and where complex issues arise internally. He also helps the accounting teams strive to improve what we do for clients, whether processes or services.

When not debiting or crediting, Keir has a penchant for fixing old buildings, skiing, surfing and cycling.
